Where are they now

We welcome owners of our Outback horses to send us stories and pictures of their horses for this section.

Puzzle

Puzzle was one of nine youngsters brought back from Gunnadorah last April. They were all a bit overwhelmed having lost their mothers and then a two day truck journey to Muchea. Puzzle stuck close to another pinto foal, Chet, the nearest he could find to something that looked like his mother. He was bought by Naomi who took him home but soon realized she didn't have the time to put in to this poor lost youngster and so Naomi asked her friend, Fiona , to take on the task of looking after him. In a very short space of time Fiona had  Puzzle shaking hands, lying down with her and they have become inseparable.
He is a lucky little fellow to have met Fiona...lets hope they will go on to a great future!

Kerry Lynn

Kerry Lynnl was one of the original Earaheedy horses...caught running with her mother, probably only about 3 months ,...difficult to tell at the time due to her size! She was brought in with a plane, jeeps and bikes and then trucked to Granite Peak Station before the long haul south. In amidst dust and chaos and noise she would always be found at the milk bar, pretending nothing was happening. Her mother, Margaret, was a total hat rack and couldn't have been producing much milk but Kl just kept trying.

She took the new domestic life on board as if she had been born to it and just kept growing...she has just cut her first incisor[ie2yo] and is 16hh.
We started her early due to her size but I had spent a lot of time leading her out from a ridden horse so when it came time to get on board KL didn't appear to register the difference!

She has since only been ridden lightly and sporadically due to her age but has been to pony club meetings , camp drafts ,shows and all manner of social outings. She promises to be an extremely comfortable ride...a joy for my impending old age. I spoke to a chap in Kalgoorlie who is well over 90 and used to work in the droving plants ...he said when time came for them to chose their horses for the next drove they all fought over the big greys...now I can see why!

I am looking forward to the years ahead...fascinated to see how big she grows...her mother is 16.3hh...quite an achievement for a mare brought up in drought conditions.
